The Future Is for Everyone: Muse for Small Business, and What It Can (and Can't) See in Your Books
Meta launched Muse for Small Business on September 29, 2026. What the AI agent connects to, what it can't see, and how it works with QuickBooks and Stripe.
Meta announced Muse for Small Business on September 29, 2026, expanding the Muse personal AI agent it introduced earlier in September. According to Meta's announcement, the update adds business skills and connectors that Meta says users can add in a few clicks, so the agent can work inside the tools an owner already runs on, including Intuit QuickBooks, Stripe, Shopify, Slack, and Canva.
For owners, the practical questions are what data Muse can access, which actions require approval, and which records may be missing from its analysis. Here is what Meta has said about each, plus a connection order for owners who use Novo business checking.
What did Meta announce about Muse for Small Business?
Muse is a personal AI agent that completes tasks on your behalf. Meta's framing is goal-first: you tell it something like "run my business" or "find new customers," and it works in the background across the accounts you have connected. Meta says Muse is available in the US and Canada.
Meta says Muse is free for most needs and offers subscription plans for additional use, but the announcement does not provide plan prices or usage limits. Treat the cost of heavier use as unknown until Meta publishes it.
What changes for US small business owners?
Muse natively pulls from your Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts. Meta's pitch is that once those are connected, the agent already understands what you sell, how your brand sounds, and what customers keep asking about, so you are not briefing it from scratch every time.
The customer Meta puts forward is Tom Mulholland, who owns Mulholland Grocery in Malvern, Iowa. Meta uses Mulholland's example to position Muse as a tool for handling administrative work while an owner focuses on core business tasks.
Meta also says more connectors and more skills are coming in the months ahead. Planned: additional connectors and skills, with no dates given in the announcement.
Which tools does Muse connect to?
Meta lists the launch connectors in the announcement, and says the full list is visible in your Muse app settings.
According to Meta's September 29, 2026 announcement, Muse launch connectors include Asana, Box, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Granola, HighLevel, Intuit QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Lovable, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe, and Zoom, plus Facebook Pages, Instagram professional accounts, and Meta ad accounts.
Meta says Muse also supports custom connectors for services it does not cover yet, and that interested partners can apply at muse.ai/platform.
Meta lists Intuit QuickBooks and Stripe as launch connectors but does not specify which records or fields Muse can access through either connector. Read the permission screen Muse shows you before you connect either one.
Five things Muse can do for a small business owner
Meta highlighted five use cases, each with a suggested prompt.
The one worth reading twice is the monthly financial review. Meta's suggested prompt is: "How was my business's financial performance this month? Find any expenses that look off." Expense flags may help an owner identify transactions to review, but their value depends on the accuracy and completeness of the connected records. An expense flagged as "off" in a book that is two months behind is noise.
Muse also surfaces work you did not ask for. Meta says it will proactively flag emails that need a response and write first drafts, and that an Ideas tab suggests more ways to put it to work.
Is Muse safe for financial data?
Meta states that Muse requires explicit owner approval before any action that publishes content, sends messages, or spends money.
Beyond what Meta commits to, apply ordinary caution:
- Read the permission screen, not the marketing. Read Meta's safety, security, and privacy posts and review the exact permissions shown before connecting an accounting or payment tool.
- Confirm the approval step is working. Check that Muse requests approval before any action that publishes, sends, or spends, as Meta says it should.
- Start with the narrowest access available. Muse for Small Business launched on September 29, 2026. Begin with limited permissions and review Muse's output before you widen access to tools that hold financial or customer data.
- Reconcile before you connect. Any summary Muse produces reflects the records it can read.
Novo does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice, and nothing here is a security review of Meta's product.
What Muse can't see: cash sales and offline revenue
Meta does not specify which revenue records Muse can access through each connector. Before you rely on a financial summary, compare it with your accounting records and check whether these are included:
- Cash sales you have not recorded in your accounting software
- Invoices you track in a spreadsheet instead of your accounting software
- Venmo or Zelle payments that never sync into your books
- Paper receipts sitting in the truck console

Cash sales and paper receipts sit outside Muse's analysis until they are recorded in your accounting software.
If you run a cash-heavy business, such as a landscaping company or an auto shop, a summary based on incomplete connected records may omit revenue or expenses that were never entered into those tools.
Novo does not accept cash deposits, and cash sales must be recorded separately in accounting software before Muse can include them in an analysis of connected records. For moving the money itself, Novo customers have three routes: convert cash to a money order or cashier's check and use mobile check deposit in the Novo app, transfer from another bank where you deposited the cash, or receive payouts from a payment processor. Mobile check deposit works in the app only, not on the web, and check deposits are subject to limits and holds.
Does Muse connect to my business checking account? How it works with Novo, QuickBooks, and Stripe
Meta's launch announcement does not name a direct bank-account connector for Muse. It names Intuit QuickBooks and Stripe among the launch connectors, which is how financial data reaches the agent in Meta's own examples.
That makes your accounting software the hinge. This is how the data flows for Novo customers.
QuickBooks Online. Novo integrates with QuickBooks Online, which automatically syncs Novo transactions. Meta lists Intuit QuickBooks as a Muse launch connector but does not specify which QuickBooks fields Muse can access. QuickBooks has its own pricing plans, and integrations are connected from Apps in the Novo dashboard.
Stripe. Novo integrates with Stripe, Square, and PayPal; their payouts go to your Novo account, and their own fees apply. Meta lists Stripe as a launch connector without documenting which Stripe records Muse can read, so check the permission screen before connecting it. On the banking side, Novo Boost lets eligible Stripe users receive payouts up to 2 business days early, up to $5,000 in early payouts at a time, and Novo Boost is not a loan.
Shopify. Meta lists Shopify as a launch connector. On the banking side, you can link your Novo account details to Shopify Payments to receive your store's payouts directly into your account. Shopify payouts usually take 24–72 hours to arrive.
Invoices. With Novo Invoices you can send unlimited invoices at no additional cost, from the app or the web, and customers can pay by ACH, check, or card through Stripe, Square, or PayPal, with those processors' fees applying to card payments. Novo requires ACH and check payments on Novo Invoices to be marked paid manually. Record those payments in the accounting software Muse can read as well, or they will sit outside its analysis.
Keep bookkeeping current so the agent's financial summaries reflect records you can verify rather than a stale ledger.
If you bank with Novo, here's a sensible order to connect Muse
Connect tools in stages, beginning with permissions and data you can review easily.
- Creative and comms first. Canva, Notion, and Slack. Review the permission screen for each, then watch how Muse drafts and stages work before anything financial is connected.
- Stripe next, if you use it. If your Stripe payouts are configured to go to Novo, compare the records Muse reports through Stripe with the deposits shown in your Novo account.
- QuickBooks Online after you reconcile. Close out the current month first so Muse's first financial review is not built on a stale ledger.
- Meta ad accounts and Shopify when you are ready. These connect advertising spend and storefront data, so read what each one requests before you grant it.
- Confirm the approval step each time. Check that Muse asks before any action that publishes, sends, or spends, as Meta says it should.
A connector permission log you can copy
Before you click "connect" on anything, write down what you granted. When you audit access later, you will want this.
CONNECTOR PERMISSION LOG — [Business name]
Last reviewed: [date]
| Tool connected | Date connected | Access requested (copy the exact permission shown by Muse) | Data available (copy the exact description shown by the connector) | Approval step confirmed? | Owner who approved | Next review date |

REVIEW RULES
- Set a review schedule that fits your business, and disconnect access you no longer need.
- Record who approved each connection. One named owner, not "the team".Build the log in a spreadsheet, and do not enter credentials, account numbers, or customer data into an external AI tool.
Common questions about Muse for Small Business
Is Muse available outside the US and Canada?
Meta's announcement does not state a timeline for countries beyond the US and Canada.
Can Muse spend my ad budget on its own?
Meta says Muse requires owner approval before it can take an action that spends money, including spending from an ad account.
Does Muse replace my bookkeeper?
Meta presents Muse as an assistant for reviewing connected business data, not as a replacement for a bookkeeper. The announcement does not say Muse performs account reconciliation or provides accounting advice.
What if my accounting software isn't QuickBooks?
QuickBooks is the accounting connector Meta named at launch. Meta says custom connectors are supported for services it does not cover yet. Novo also integrates with Xero and FreshBooks, which sync transactions automatically, so your Novo transactions can reach those ledgers even if Muse cannot read them directly today.
The bottom line for owners
Complete, reconciled records determine how useful Muse's financial summaries can be. Muse's financial output may be less useful when the records available through connected tools are incomplete or out of date.
Novo business checking has no monthly fee and no minimum balance requirement. It integrates with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and FreshBooks, and it connects to Stripe, Square, and PayPal so their payouts land in your account. A concrete next step: reconcile the current month in your accounting software, then connect one tool to Muse and check its first summary against deposits and records you can verify yourself.
