1. Slack — for anyone who touches the business

“We put as many people as possible on : Teammates, vendors, contractors, labor, even our cleaning crew. We have two assistants who are offshore, so having fast access to them helps. During construction, we have a channel with the general contractor. Not everyone loves using it, admittedly — we have a pool guy who’s in his 60s and there’s no chance in hell he’s getting on Slack — but it’s otherwise an efficiency tool that really works for us.”

2. Instagram for organic marketing that works

“We get a ton of business from and use it as much as possible. I’m in the process of hiring a social media manager because whatever we put out there is gobbled up. I’ve never paid for advertising except once, last year, I spent $60 on a Facebook ad as a Jazz Fest promo. Otherwise all of our growth is totally organic.”

3. A weekly massage

“I do physical labor as well as knowledge labor, so I need this!”
