Frequently asked questions
Complete the Novo application process. Be sure to have a government-issued ID and some standard business documents on hand. The application is straightforward and typically completed in under 10 minutes.
1. Open your Novo account
Make sure your Novo business checking account is fully set up and ready to receive funds.
2. Link your Novo account in North One
From your North One account, add your Novo account as an external bank account using the external account set up.
3. Initiate the transfer
Use North One’s transfer feature to move your funds to your Novo account. Transfers typically arrive in 1-3 days.
- Apply for a Novo account today
The sooner your Novo account is open, the sooner you can start routing payments safely. Opening your account now ensures there’s no gap in your ability to get paid. - Keep your North One account active during the transition
While your Novo account is being set up and your money is being transferred, keep your North One account open so incoming payments (like ACH, Stripe, Square or checks) can continue without interruption. - Update payment accounts gradually
Once your Novo account is ready, start updating your payment processors, subscriptions, and invoicing tools to use your new Novo account. This could include: Stripe, Square, Gusto, Amazon and other e-commerce platforms. - Transfer funds regularly
Move incoming payments from North One to Novo as needed via external transfers or ACH. This ensures all funds eventually consolidate in your Novo account.
- Apply for your Novo account as soon as possible
To avoid any disruption to your outgoing payments, apply for your Novo account right away. Once it’s open, you can begin shifting your invoice payments over. - Keep using your North One account during setup
Continue paying invoices from your North One account while your Novo account is being set up and funds are transferred. - Safely switch to Novo
Once your Novo account is ready, start paying invoices directly from Novo. You can set up your new account in any invoicing platform, accounting software, or bill payment tools you use. - Transfer funds incrementally
Move money from North One to Novo as invoices are paid, ensuring you always have enough balance in the account you’re using to pay.
Tip: Novo supports free ACH transfers, incoming wires, and integrations with tools like Stripe, Square, Gusto and Amazon, so paying bills and managing cashflow is easy once your account is live.
- Open your Novo account and get your new details
Copy your Novo routing and account numbers — you’ll use these to update your payroll provider. - Update your payroll platform
In your payroll tool (e.g. Gusto, ADP, Paychex, etc.), replace your old North One banking information with your Novo details. Most platforms let you update this in your “Bank Account” or “Payouts” settings. - Run a small test if your provider supports it
Some payroll tools allow a micro-deposit test to confirm the new bank is connected. Complete this step if prompted. - Fund your Novo account before the next payroll run
Make sure your Novo balance has enough funds to cover payroll. You can transfer money or another external bank account via ACH or wire.
Tip: If you run payroll through Gusto, Novo integrates directly — making payouts smooth once your account is updated.
- Download any invoices you need from North One
If you created or tracked invoices in North One, export or download copies so you have them saved for your records. - Set up invoicing in Novo
Novo can generate invoices directly from your account. You can also continue using tools like Stripe, Square, or QuickBooks if you prefer. Choose the invoicing tool you want to use going forward. - Update your bank details
In your invoicing or accounting software, replace your North One banking information with your Novo routing and account numbers so new payments deposit directly into Novo. - Recreate any activities or recurring invoices
For any unpaid, scheduled, or recurring invoices you previously managed in North One or another platform, rebuild them in your invoicing tool and send updated versions if needed.
Tip: If you already use tools like Stripe or Quickbooks with North One, switching the bank account to Novo ensures future invoice payments flow seamlessly into your new account.
