Do I need an SSN or can I use an EIN to apply for an account?

Yes. You’ll need your SSN to apply. We use it to verify your identity.

You’ll also need:
Valid US residential address
Active US cell phone number (no virtual numbers)

Novo requires an EIN for most business types, including Sole Proprietorships. The only exception is for single-member LLCs with no employees that are taxed as disregarded entities — these applicants can use their SSN instead.

Right now, we only accept applications from business owners who live in the US.
