Why haven’t I received payment for an invoice?
If an invoice isn’t showing as paid, it usually comes down to your client's payment method used, or timing.
Payment method:
Card, PayPal, or Venmo – The invoice updates automatically once the payment is confirmed. If it hasn’t, check your processor (Stripe, Square, or PayPal) to see if the payment is pending or failed.
ACH or check – These don’t update automatically. Once the money hits your account, you’ll need to mark the invoice as Paid yourself (manual update required).
Processing times:
Card – 2–3 business days
ACH – 3–5 business days
Weekends/holidays – Processing starts the next business day
If it’s taking longer than expected:
Confirm the payment with your client
Check your payment processor for delays
Check your account to see if the money has cleared
When the money is in your account, you can update the invoice status to Paid.
