What is an LLC?

Updated June 18, 2026

A limited liability company (LLC) is a business structure that separates the business from its owners. This helps protect owners from being personally responsible for business debts or legal issues. It also offers flexibility in how the business is run and taxed.

To apply for a Novo account as an LLC, we'll need your:

Articles of Organization – This document must be filed with the state and show your business name and registration details. Depending on your state, this may be called Certificate of Organization or Certificate of Formation.

Operating Agreement – This document must list you as a member, manager, organizer, authorized representative, or owner to complete the Novo application.

Valid government-issued ID
Proof of address (like a utility bill or lease)
Social Security number (SSN)
Employer Identification number (EIN)
We'll also need some information about the owners:
Ownership details for all owners
Contact information for all owners
